The Best Dothan Restaurant: KBC Makes Comfort Food Look Sharp

Chef Kelsey Barnard Clark builds a menu that lands like a greatest-hits record, except it still feels personal. The Bee’s Knees is her fried chicken sandwich with southern slaw and pickles, and the brunch side of the operation goes harder with a brisket-and-fried-egg Butcher’s Breakfast over smoked gouda grits with red-eye gravy.
While the food might be elevated, the space is casual in the way that makes a place busier, not lazier. There’s a reason Barnard Clark won Top Chef, and it’s because she has the ability to make even the most simple-sounding dishes something far better than expected. —Rebecca Thompson
