Ana De Sa Martins and Juan Vieira stood in front of their pale yellow trailer in Huizenga Park, oversized scissors in hand, and cut an orange ribbon. Three days later, Ophelia opened in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the second location for the bakery the husband-and-wife chefs launched in Coconut Grove in 2025, and their first in Broward County.
In Coconut Grove, Ophelia began as a vintage-inspired mobile café, a tiny trailer whose breakfast sandwiches and pastries drew a following before the second trailer headed north to Broward County.
Ophelia is a bakery on wheels, with breads and pastries made from scratch each day. The coffee is locally roasted, and the syrups and cold foams are made in-house.
The bacon, egg, and cheese comes on a house-made English muffin, and it sits alongside coffee-glazed cinnamon rolls and a brown sugar cinnamon latte topped with vanilla cold foam.
The sweeter side of the case runs from the guava kouign-amann, a buttery Breton pastry layered with sugar, to a peach cobbler roll, soft and filled with peach, and an olive oil cake, soft and light, topped with cream and berries. Banana-walnut bread, with a ribbon of cream cheese frosting, is another case staple.
Seasonal specials join the standing menu too. Fall brought a maple pumpkin latte, made with house-made maple pumpkin syrup and topped with salted caramel cold foam, and the case also holds coffee, matcha, pastries, and light lunch fare, along with grab-and-go options.
Both chefs grew up in South Florida and met at Stubborn Seed. De Sa Martins, born in Maracaibo, Venezuela, to a Portuguese family, built the pastry program there after working at Patisserie Chanson, where her desserts highlighted seasonal, local produce. Vieira began working in kitchens at 16, starting at Barton G, and worked at The Surf Club and Stubborn Seed before running the kitchen at Beauty and The Butcher.
The name comes from a mishearing. De Sa Martins’s father greeted her in Portuguese with “Oi, filha,” or “Hey, daughter,” and Vieira heard “Ophelia.” The name stuck.

The Fort Lauderdale trailer sits in Huizenga Park, along the New River, in a park that reopened this year after a $15 million transformation. The Coconut Grove trailer is still running, and it’s the same idea in a new park: small, mobile, and built around breakfast.
