Eric Barton The Adventurist

The biggest restaurant openings across the country this week reads like a travelogue of cravings: Michelin-trained finesse in Dallas, rock-fuelled moo krata in Manhattan, and fire-roasted dishes in L.A.’s foothills. There’s omakase so snug it feels secret, a Fieldwork taproom calling baseball fans, and a tiny Luby’s staking nostalgia downtown. From Vegas cool to Minneapolis mash-up, here’s what’s new—and what should be on your radar.

Betsy — Altadena, CA

Altadena chef Tyler Wells built his live-fire restaurant Betsy, named after his mother, around a wood-burning hearth. The menu—ribeye, gnocchi, crudo, even cheesecake—is an ember-lit tribute to resilience: Wells lost his home in the Eaton Fire in January and his restaurant now serves as another inspiring sign of the community’s resilience.

Da Angelino Cucina Italiana rigatoni

Ariete Hospitality and Graspa Group teamed up on Da Angelino, taking over the former Eva space in Coconut Grove with a more approachable spin on Italian. The menu leans hard on pastas—cacio e pepe twirled in a cheese wheel, gnocchi alla vodka, linguine ai frutti di mare—alongside veal Milanese and grilled meats meant for sharing, all served with a vintage Polaroid booth wink that keeps things casual. I’ll have a review coming soon, but for now here’s a preview.

Fieldwork Brewing Company San Francisco

One of Northern California’s most beloved breweries has finally planted a flag in San Francisco, just across from Oracle Park. Their rotating tap list meets pizzas and salads, all served on a terrace where the post-game crowd pours in.

LenLen New York City

Flatiron gets a Thai bar that nods to 1970s Bangkok—loud in the right ways, with cocktails that like lime and chilies. The cooking’s big-flavor and late-night friendly, exactly the kind of place that becomes a habit.

Luby's Cafe Austin Downtown

Luby’s Café — Austin, TX

The Texas cafeteria legend Luby’s gets a boutique makeover in downtown Austin with a mini café version. You can still score a LuAnn Platter and breakfast that lasts until mid-morning—with built-in nostalgia and none of the square footage.

Chef Christophe De Lellis Mamani Dallas duck

Mamani — Dallas, TX

$$$$$ | MAP | WEBSITE | INSTAGRAM

The former Joël Robuchon in Las Vegas chef Christophe De Lellis has brought Riviera-light bistronomie to Uptown’s Quad at Mamani. Think corn agnolotti, jidori chicken in a three-day jus, and a ribeye that’s as show-stopping as the pastel-marbled décor. In our feature on De Lellis, he describes the concept for the restaurant: bistronomie.

Midosuji omakase Chicago

Midōsuji — Chicago, IL

Chicago’s newest omakase squeezes eight seats into the Athletic Association Hotel, turning precision into theater. Chef Brian Lockwood serves 11 courses that fuse French technique and Japanese ingredients.

Mr Charlie's Told Me So vegan restaurant Los Angeles

Often called the vegan answer to McDonald’s, the cheeky vegan fast-food chain Mr. Charlie’s has dropped its fourth L.A. location on the Westside. Expect Not-a-Hamburger and Not-Chicken Nuggets with Frowny Fries—plant-based fast food that can sneak up on your comfort-food reflexes.

Nuyores Peruvian New York City

Nuyores — New York, NY

Peruvian cooking lands in the West Village with the kind of confidence that makes ceviche feel like a main character again. The room’s cozy, the wines lean South American, and the sauces do the talking.

Pamana brunch restaurant Portland Oregon

Pamana — Portland, OR

$$$$$ | MAP | INSTAGRAM

A beloved Filipino food cart just grew into a sit-down brunch residency inside The Hoxton’s Lovely Rita space. Expect comfort food—bistek and eggs, tortang talong, ube-leaning sweets—delivered with the glow of a long-time-coming upgrade.

Tous Les Jours Bakery Cafe Reston Virginia

Tous Les Jours — Reston, VA

$$$$$ | MAP | WEBSITE | INSTAGRAM

Tous Les Jours, the bakery café chain, is freshly opened in Reston’s new Reston Row development and already a morning magnet. Think flaky, buttery, and grab-and-go friendly for commuters who don’t care about showing up to the office with crumbs on their shirt.

Tracks Raw Bar and Grill Grand Central Madison

Tracks Raw Bar & Grill — Manhattan

The commuter favorite now has a Grand Central Madison outpost, which means oysters, pints, and train-timed plates without the Penn Station shuffle. It’s an upgrade in setting, with the same blue-collar heart.
