Jamie Dutton The Adventurist

In Dearborn, deciding where to eat can turn into a discussion about which country’s bread you want with dinner. Lebanese pita for scooping hummus? Yemeni tanoor for a bubbling bowl of lamb? Just west of Detroit, the city’s restaurants offer plenty of reasons to arrive hungry and let the museum plans wait a little.

Warren and Michigan avenues supply much of the eating, but the choices keep changing. And several older restaurants still belong in the conversation, especially when they’re serving Lebanese breakfast or grilling meat selected at the butcher counter. These 12, the best restaurants in Dearborn right now, cover the newcomers and the places that continue to earn their seat.

Al-Ameer Dearborn Best Restaurants

Al-Ameer

Al-Ameer has been feeding Dearborn since 1989, and its James Beard America’s Classics award explains why an older restaurant belongs among the newcomers. The menu rewards a table willing to pass plates: hummus, parsley-heavy tabbouleh, fried kibbee, and stuffed lamb served over rice. For two people who would rather hand over the decisions, the Al-Ameer platter brings chicken and beef shawarma, tawook, kabob, and kafta, with two sides. It’s a useful introduction to Lebanese cooking, provided somebody remembers to leave room on the table.

Best for: A Lebanese feast to share

Aliz Seafood and Grill House Dearborn Best Restaurants

Whole fish gets top billing at Aliz, which opened in 2022 and gives Warren Avenue a seafood alternative to its many meat-heavy menus. Red snapper comes grilled or fried, while sultan ibrahim—red mullet—offers another route through the fish selection. There are salmon and fish fillet platters for diners who prefer fewer negotiations with the bones, plus shrimp and tabbouleh to round out the order. Come with someone willing to share a whole fish; choosing its preparation is the main decision, and considerably more interesting than another chicken sandwich.

Best for: Whole fish with Lebanese sides

AlTayeb Restaurant Dearborn Michigan Best Restaurants

Breakfast at AlTayeb can involve chickpeas, yogurt, fried pita, and enough garlic to settle any uncertainty about the day’s direction. The Dearborn restaurant opened in 2020, and its fatteh laban layers those ingredients with almonds and cashews; ful brings fava beans and chickpeas, while mshawasheh adds tahini to cooked chickpeas. Order spicy potatoes alongside, tossed with garlic and cilantro sauce, and let the bread handle the rest. Turkish coffee is available for a more conventional start to the morning, although the potatoes deserve at least equal consideration.

Best for: Lebanese breakfast and a table full of small plates

The Canteen at Midtown Dearborn Michigan Best Restaurants

The Canteen at Midtown

The Canteen at Midtown, which opened in 2024, gathers indoor food vendors and an outdoor food-truck courtyard into one place to eat across the menu. At The Terry Melt, the patty melt puts beef, caramelized onions, American cheese, and burger sauce on toasted sourdough; the steak version adds mushrooms, banana peppers, Swiss, and mozzarella. Other vendors and rotating trucks give the table plenty of opportunities to compare orders without agreeing on a cuisine. Bring someone willing to trade a bite, and choose a seat indoors or out.

Best for: Sampling Dearborn’s food trucks in one stop

Dearborn Meat Market Dearborn Michigan Best Restaurants

Dearborn Meat Market

Dinner at Dearborn Meat Market begins at the butcher counter, where choosing the meat is part of the meal rather than a chore to complete on the way home. Select beef kafta, chicken tawook, or ribeye skewers, and the kitchen cooks them over charcoal for eating on-site. The business still functions as a butcher shop, so there’s a practical temptation to plan tomorrow’s dinner while ordering today’s. For now, stay with the skewers and a side of hummus; the grill is doing the work you came for.

Best for: Butcher-counter meat cooked over charcoal

Emo's Brick Oven Pizza Dearborn Best Restaurants

Emo’s Brick Oven Pizza

Emo’s gives Michigan Avenue a newer pizza stop with both New York-style and deep-dish options, plus a topping list that makes plain cheese a deliberate decision. The Spicy Pep combines pepperoni, fresh jalapeño, whipped ricotta, and hot honey, while the white pie takes the quieter route through mushrooms, garlic, ricotta, and basil. Pepperoni knots, dressed with garlic butter and Parmesan, make an opening argument for ordering more dough than originally planned. Split a pie, compare slices, and decide whether the knots were an appetizer or simply another pizza in disguise.

Best for: Pizza with a sweet-hot streak

The Great Commoner Dearborn Michigan Best Restaurants

The Great Commoner

$$$ | MAP | WEBSITE | INSTAGRAM

The Great Commoner opened in 2021 with chef Zane Makky and Cannelle pastry chef Matt Knio bringing Middle Eastern breakfast and French baking to the same table. Its labneh platter pairs differently seasoned labneh with pistachio-coated goat cheese, olives, fig jam, and a griddled baguette. For something heartier, short rib hash adds Aleppo vinaigrette and pistachio dukkah to beef, potatoes, peppers, onions, and eggs. The croissants change daily, giving you a reason to inspect the pastry case even after ordering a full breakfast.

Best for: Brunch with French pastry and Middle Eastern flavors

M Cantina Dearborn Michigan Best Restaurants

M Cantina

At M Cantina, chef Junior Merino gives tacos enough detail to justify reading past the filling. Braised short rib comes with mole barbecue sauce, crispy knob onions, and rice crisps; the Arabes taco pairs chicken with green tomato confit and a sauce of cucumber, cilantro, and yogurt. An extensive agave selection supplies the other half of the evening, making this a good place to linger over dinner rather than grab a quick lunch. Guests must be 13 or older, and the menu notes a 20 percent automatic gratuity.

Best for: Inventive tacos and an agave-focused evening

The Oasis Kitchen Dearborn Michigan Best Restaurants

The Oasis Kitchen of Dearborn

$$$ | MAP | WEBSITE

At Oasis Kitchen, the bread has a job to do. Hot tanoor accompanies Yemeni dishes such as fahsah, a bubbling bowl of shredded lamb and mashed potatoes, and saltah, built around vegetables and whipped fenugreek. Lamb agdah adds carrots, potatoes, and onions to the meat, with rice or tanoor offered alongside. Save some appetite for massoob, a mixture of banana, bread, cream, and honey that moves the meal firmly into dessert territory. Order the bowl and the bread together; a spoon will only get you partway there.

Best for: Yemeni stews and hot tanoor bread

Sana'a Restaurant Yemeni Cuisine Dearborn Michigan Best Restaurants

Sana’a Yemeni Cuisine

$$$ | MAP | WEBSITE

Sana’a offers a straightforward reason to order lamb: haneeth, slowly roasted and served with basmati rice. The restaurant is one of the established Yemeni stops on Michigan Avenue, with grilled chicken and lamb fahsah providing alternatives when the table wants more than one centerpiece. Traditional bread belongs in the order, particularly with the fahsah, though a lamb-and-rice dinner needs little explanation once it arrives. Start with the haneeth, add another dish to share, and give the quieter pleasures of roasted meat and rice their due.

Best for: Slow-roasted lamb haneeth

Tiliani Dearborn Detroit Best Restaurants

Tiliani Italian Restaurant

$$$ | MAP | WEBSITE | INSTAGRAM

Chef Hisham Diab opened Tiliani in 2023, giving Dearborn an Italian restaurant where pasta leads and a few ingredients nod toward the surrounding city. Porcini-filled cappelletti arrive with tarragon, a sherry vinegar reduction, and truffle cream; squid ink mafaldine brings shrimp, clams, and scallops into chili butter. Elsewhere, salmon gets honey and za’atar, and orange olive oil cake comes with orange blossom and date ricotta. Order across those parts of the menu, especially if dinner is an occasion and nobody is keeping watch on the clock.

Best for: A pasta dinner that runs through dessert

Turkish Village Cuisine Dearborn Best Restaurants

Turkish Village Cuisine

$$$ | MAP | WEBSITE | INSTAGRAM

Turkish Village opened in 2024, adding döner, lamb shanks, and cheese-filled pastry to west Dearborn’s dinner choices. İskender layers sliced döner over pita with tomato sauce and yogurt, while Ali Nazik pairs a choice of beef or lamb with eggplant purée. For a larger commitment, incik kebap brings a lamb shank with peppers, tomato sauce, onions, garlic, and mashed potatoes. Finish with pistachio and cheese kunefe and a glass of Turkish tea; the pastry gives you a reason to make that last cup a slow one.

Best for: Turkish comfort food and kunefe
