New waterfront restaurants, Oxford pho, and tacos in Lady Lake give The Villages plenty to eat beyond its town squares.

I’ve been eating in The Villages long enough to watch dinner plans move south. Spanish Springs and Lake Sumter Landing used to anchor the conversation; then came Brownwood and Sawgrass Grove, and now Eastport gives the golf cart another destination. The best restaurants in The Villages, Florida, include some of those newer arrivals, but I’ve also learned to cross into Oxford for Colombian food or pho and head to Lady Lake when tacos sound better than another reservation. Here are 12 places in The Villages and its nearest neighbors that give me a reason to change my usual route.

Bluefin Grill & Bar

The menu at this Brownwood restaurant follows the fish: Bluefin says its selections change with availability, while aged steaks cover anyone unmoved by seafood. The large bar faces Brownwood Square, which gives dinner a useful second people-watching act once the plates are cleared. Among The Villages’ established restaurants, this is the one I’d keep on the list for a seafood dinner.

Calypso

Calypso gives the Waterfront Inn’s Lake Sumter dining room a Caribbean menu with more range than its tropical cocktails might suggest. Start with conch fritters or queso frito with guava sauce, then consider the whole fried snapper with pigeon peas and tostones. The indoor-outdoor bar looks across the lake; for once, the waterfront address has a menu that makes staying for dinner sensible.

Candelaria Eatery & Cafe

Cheyenne Daves grew up in Wildwood, where her family has lived for generations, a history that gives her café’s name some weight. She serves grilled cheese, coffee, and locally made ice cream alongside a marketplace stocked with goods from local businesses. The café is small, and its point of view is unusually clear: this is Wildwood as seen by someone whose family was here long before the surrounding growth.

LUMA Mediterranean Kitchen

LUMA’s Lake Sumter Landing location opened in September 2026, bringing a quick lunch option to a square where sitting down can take the better part of an afternoon. Its Spartan Lamb bowl combines lentils, a smashed lamb patty, roasted broccoli, walnuts, and balsamic fig; chicken shawarma and falafel come in pitas, too. You can build your own bowl, though the house combinations make a stronger case for letting someone else decide.

At the Eastport hotel, Yamas puts Greek and Mediterranean dishes on a menu designed for sharing. Saganaki arrives with ouzo and garlic-butter pita; the mezze platter brings hummus, whipped eggplant, and beet labneh, while grilled octopus and lamb-beef köfte can turn several starters into dinner. It’s a useful new answer to the question of where to take a group whose members all want to order for the table.
