I’m writing this from an armchair in a corner room on the 16th floor of the Kimpton Tryon Park, looking down on picturesque Romare Bearden Park and the minor-league baseball field beyond it. It’s a rainy Charlotte afternoon, the tops of the skyscrapers have disappeared into the clouds, and within a three-block walk, there are at least half a dozen very nice hotels. That says something about a city built to accommodate convention crowds, visiting executives, and the steady flow of people arriving for meetings inside all those corporate towers.
These days, Charlotte’s finest hotels include polished Uptown high-rises, historic inns in leafy neighborhoods, modern SouthPark hotels, a full-scale resort in Ballantyne, and a small independent property up in Davidson. Here are the 12 best hotels in Charlotte right now.
The Ballantyne, a Luxury Collection Hotel
