Naples, Florida, has an evening routine that’s hard to argue with: watch the Gulf swallow the sun, then find a table beneath the palms. I’m all for keeping the first part, but the best restaurants in Naples are giving dinner a bigger role in the plan. Along Fifth Avenue South, around the boats on Naples Bay, and farther north in the city’s shopping plazas, chefs are serving Thai short-rib curry, Persian duck with pomegranate and walnuts, and Florida ingredients to a vinyl soundtrack. The newer kitchens have good company in family-run restaurants where a deep wine cellar or a carefully cooked stew has been reason enough to return for years. Here are the 12 best restaurants in Naples, from a casual outdoor lunch to the dinner you build the evening around.
Bha Bha Persian Bistro

Pomegranate, sour cherries, and dried limes give Michael Mir’s Persian cooking a vocabulary all its own on Fifth Avenue South. Begin with pistachio lamb meatballs in a mint-scented pomegranate and pinot noir reduction, or eggplant layered with caramelized onions, Persian whey, and feta. Duck confit gets the walnut-and-pomegranate treatment of fesenjune, while roasted quail arrives over sour cherry and almond basmati rice. There’s plenty coming off the grill, too, but the stews and fruit-laced sauces reward a little time spent reading beyond the kebabs.
Best for Persian stews, fragrant rice, and a different sort of Fifth Avenue dinner
Bleu Provence

Bleu Provence gives you two substantial menus to consider: one for dinner and another that could occupy most of the evening before you’ve chosen a bottle. The Cariot family’s French restaurant pairs that deep cellar with cooking that starts convincingly at fish soup, served with rouille, croutons, and Gruyère. Move on to duck leg confit with orange-and-berry demi-glace and duck-fat-roasted potatoes, or loup de mer with lemon-caper sauce and fennel gratin. The covered patio encourages a long dinner; the apple tarte Tatin with honey-lavender ice cream provides a good reason to finish one.
Best for A French dinner with serious attention to the wine
The Continental
$$$$$ | MAP | WEBSITE | INSTAGRAM
The Continental treats choosing a steak as a worthwhile part of dinner, separating cuts by producer and offering Prime, Piedmontese, and Wagyu beef rather than one anonymous list of filets. Start with yellowtail carpaccio or steak tartare, then decide how far into that beef selection you intend to go. Potato gratin with Parmigiano and Serrano ham, baked mushrooms, and creamed spinach make useful companions. The courtyard and cocktail bar give this Third Street South steakhouse a social life beyond the plate, although the meat alone supplies ample reason to book.
Best for Steak by provenance in a charming courtyard
Heyday Cookshop

Chef Kayla Pfeiffer has given Naples a dinner soundtrack worth paying attention to at Heyday, where curated vinyl shares the evening with a kitchen built for visiting-chef collaborations. Her menu moves from trotters-and-collards dumplings in vinegar-chili potlikker to smoked duck meatloaf with mushy peas, with grilled oysters and a Peking duck snack wrap along the way. The combinations are playful, but the regional ingredients and careful cooking give them purpose. Order a vermouth or spritz, and leave some flexibility in your expectations: the menu changes with the season and the cooks at the stove.
Best for Inventive Florida cooking and a vinyl soundtrack
Lake Park Diner

Lake Park Diner understands that a casual meal can accommodate both a vegetable bowl and a milkshake wearing a doughnut. At the original Naples location, the counter-service menu runs from rotisserie chicken and miso-glazed salmon to a pimento chicken sandwich layered with bacon jam, provolone, and arugula on grilled sourdough. Korean short rib tacos and a burger with raclette offer further arguments against making this strictly a salad stop. Order at the window, claim an outdoor table, and decide whether the cereal shake belongs with lunch or in place of whatever you had planned afterward.
Best for A casual outdoor lunch with something for several appetites
Mediterrano

Flowers and hanging greenery give Mediterrano’s outdoor tables the sort of setting that makes ordering another course feel entirely reasonable. The menu covers considerable Mediterranean territory, starting with lamb meatballs in rosemary-mint glaze or shrimp saganaki with cheese, ouzo, and spiced tomato broth. A slowly braised lamb shank comes with mushroom risotto, while branzino takes a sweeter route through figs, raisins, lavender, and citrus-saffron butter. There are proper vegan entrées, too, including saffron-rice paella, giving a mixed table more options than negotiating over the side dishes.
Best for Mediterranean cooking at a flower-filled outdoor table
The Merchant Room

Chef Gavin Kaysen brings the brasserie habits of his Minneapolis restaurants to a Gulf-facing terrace at Naples Beach Club, a Four Seasons Resort. The Merchant Room gives that setting a substantial dinner: red snapper tartare with Florida citrus and kombu dashi, black-truffle cacio e pepe bucatini, and beef dry-aged in-house. Reserve around sunset if you can, but also give the cooking enough attention to compete with the water.
Best for A major-chef dinner with Gulf views
Nosh on Naples Bay
$$$$ | MAP | WEBSITE | INSTAGRAM
Todd Johnson’s Nosh puts the boats of Naples Bay Resort within view and gives small plates the ingredients usually reserved for a more ceremonial dinner. Foie gras crème brûlée comes with a savory madeleine and pear compote, while pistachio-crusted burrata gets fig purée and grilled sourdough. You can keep assembling dinner from those smaller dishes or move to hogfish with risotto, jumbo lump crab, and sherry-lobster sauce. The open kitchen and waterside tables suit the restaurant’s central idea: a dinner with several things to try, rather than one large decision to defend.
Best for A waterfront dinner assembled from luxurious small plates
Sails Restaurant
$$$$$ | MAP | WEBSITE | INSTAGRAM
Sails takes the European seafood dinner seriously, from the oysters and crudo through the whole fish and the soufflé that asks you to save a little capacity. The à la carte menu pairs wood-grilled octopus with hazelnut romesco, folds Maine lobster into ravioli, and serves whole Dover sole with piccata sauce. An eight-course tasting menu offers another route through the kitchen, should choosing seem like unnecessary work. This is an occasion restaurant near the beach, rather than a toes-in-the-sand fish shack, with the service and bill scaled accordingly.
Best for A full-scale seafood occasion, right through dessert
The Syren Oyster & Cocktail Bar
$$$$ | MAP | WEBSITE | INSTAGRAM
The Syren gives a waterfront seafood meal more directions than simply grilled fish and a wedge of lemon. Start at the sea bar with oysters or Key West pink shrimp, then consider triggerfish schnitzel with lemon-caper butter or crab garlic noodles built around blue, snow, and Dungeness crab. Maine lobster bucatini brings guanciale, basil, and a little heat into the discussion. The Naples Boat Club setting supplies the marina views, while the kitchen leaves you with the pleasant problem of deciding which part of the ocean should arrive next.
Best for Oysters, seafood noodles, and a marina view
Tong Yin
$$$ | MAP | WEBSITE | INSTAGRAM
Tong Yin’s Thai cooking has earned a place in the Michelin Guide without requiring the choreography or prices of a tasting-menu evening. White tablecloths and green-and-red drapes give the small restaurant a comfortable formality; dishes are well suited to passing around the table. Miang kham, drunken noodles with mussels, and khao soi with beef short rib offer three different reasons to resist treating the menu as a quick pad Thai decision. Discuss your preferred heat with the server, and order enough variety to let dinner move between fresh herbs, curry, and noodles.
Best for Michelin-recognized Thai cooking and a shared dinner
Tulia Italian Steak
$$$$$ | MAP | WEBSITE | INSTAGRAM
Chef Vincenzo Betulia has traded The French for Tulia Italian Steak, giving this stretch of Fifth Avenue a new excuse to take dinner slowly. Steaks cook over Florida white oak, with American Prime and international Wagyu sharing the menu with the handmade pasta that built his local following. Short-rib agnolotti arrive with Taleggio fonduta and black truffle, while lobster ravioli get lobster butter, pine nuts, lemon, and bottarga. Start with grilled octopus or eggplant parmigiana, then decide whether this is a steak evening, a pasta evening, or a negotiation between the two.
Best for Wood-grilled beef with an equally persuasive pasta menu
