If you’ve eaten enough minimalist sushi in hushed rooms to last a lifetime, America is about to get something louder. Nacionsushi, the Panamanian-born brand that’s spent the past decade exporting its technicolor take on Asian dining across Latin America and Europe, just opened its first U.S. location.

The restaurant, in the Miami suburb of Doral, is what Nacionsushi has always delivered: an oversized, flavor-mashup menu, club-style beats, and décor that looks more like a muralist’s mood bord than a Kyoto tearoom.

Nacionsushi

Founded in Panama City in 2014, Nacionsushi made a business out of breaking the sushi rules. Instead of white walls and reverent sushi chefs, the brand went maximalist: think Crispy Sushi Pizzas, nigiri trios torched at the table, and Thai-inspired laab tacos. Its XL rolls are notorious—protein-heavy gut busters that land on Instagram before they hit your stomach.

That formula has proven wildly portable. In just over 10 years, the company has opened more than 40 restaurants across 11 markets, from Spain and Puerto Rico to the Dominican Republic and Costa Rica, where a location opened last year in the San Jose suburb of Escazú.

Now the chain is planting its flag in the U.S., with the inaugural outpost open in Doral. Like its international siblings, the restaurant comes wrapped in a multi-environment design, each space channeling a different corner of Southeast Asia, paired with a cocktail and juice program.

For a brand that has already spread through Latin America, the U.S. launch feels like the inevitable next move. Whether you think sushi should whisper or shout, Nacionsushi is betting American diners are ready for the volume.
